Professor Mir Mohammad Azad, PhD, has joined Presidency University as Dean, School of Engineering and Chairman, Department of Computer Science & Engineering.
Professor Azad brings extensive academic leadership experience, research expertise, and a distinguished career spanning more than two decades in higher education. He has held several key academic leadership positions, including Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Uttara University, Professor and Head of CSE at World University of Bangladesh, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology, along with Head of CSE at Hamdard University Bangladesh, Professor and Head of CSE at Khwaja Yunus Ali University, and Associate Professor and Founder Head of CSE and CSIT at Shanto Mariam University of Creative Technology. Earlier in his career, he also served as an academician at Jiujiang University, China, and at various affiliated colleges in India.
He earned his PhD in Computer Science from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, India, and holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Computer Application from Bangalore University, India. His academic journey reflects a strong commitment to teaching excellence, research advancement, and institutional development.
Professor Azad has made significant contributions to research and innovation, with scholarly work spanning areas including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, IoT, cybersecurity, image processing, and computational technologies. His research portfolio includes numerous Scopus-indexed journal publications and international conference contributions.
Beyond his academic leadership responsibilities, Professor Azad has contributed to institutional quality enhancement and accreditation initiatives. He has served as an Academic Auditor for the Bangladesh Accreditation Council and has previously held leadership roles in Institutional Quality Assurance Cells (IQAC) at higher education institutions.
His leadership experience, research vision, and commitment to academic excellence will be valuable in strengthening our engineering and technology programs, promoting innovation, and creating greater opportunities for our students and faculty.
