Dr. Shirin Sharmin is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Presidency University. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at the Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM), under the University of Dhaka. During her tenure at BIGM, she served as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator for several government-funded research projects sponsored by the Ministry of Public Administration and the Cabinet Division of Bangladesh. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Sharmin held a senior leadership role at a multinational asset management company, serving as Vice President and Head of Research for approximately eight years. Dr. Sharmin possesses a diverse and multidisciplinary academic background. She obtained her PhD in economics, earned her first MBA in Marketing from the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, second MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. A graduate civil engineer from BUET, she also holds a Master's in Economics degree from Dhaka School of Economics (under the University of Dhaka). An active researcher, Dr. Sharmin has authored nine journal articles and thirteen conference papers. In addition, she has contributed several opinion pieces and articles to leading national daily newspapers. Her research interests encompass Infrastructure Finance, Operations Management, Financial Reporting, and Capital Market Analysis.
