Profile of the Adviser

Maj Gen Kazi Ashfaq Ahmed, psc, MDS (Retd) was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 1971 and subsequently served in Bangladesh Army till 2008. During his tenure in the military he served in all coveted command, staff and instructional appointments. Amongst other important appointments that he has held, Gen Ashfaq was General Officer Commanding of an Infantry Division. He served as Master General Ordnance in Bangladesh Army Headquarters and was the Chief Instructor in Defense Services Command & Staff College, Mirpur, Dhaka.

In international arena of peacekeeping Gen Ashfaq was the Chief Military Observer in the United Nations Observer Mission in Georgia; Region Commander in United Nations Mission in Mozambique and he was Conduct & Discipline Adviser in United Nations Office in Timor-Leste.

Based on his extraordinary performances, the United Nations Headquarters extended Gen Ashfaq’s tenure in Georgia for the second year.

The General has attended number of courses and seminars both at home and abroad. Amongst these, he has attended military staff course at Maktab Turus Angkatan Tentara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Senior International Defense Management Course at Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California, USA and Mid-Level Management Course at People’s Liberation Army Academy in Chang Ping, Beijing, China. Gen Ashfaq has obtained Master’s in Defense Studies degree from National University, Bangladesh. Post retirement from the military, Gen Ashfaq was Special Affairs Adviser in AKTEL. Later he has served in University of Asia Pacific, Eastern University, Green University and Canadian University of Bangladesh as Registrar.

Gen Ashfaq is in Presidency University as University Adviser since July 2017.
